Competitor facts were checked on October 8, 2026, on each vendor’s own pages and its US App Store listing; Lightshot’s side comes from the app. This compares documentation, not measured accuracy or speed. “Not found” means we didn’t find it in their documentation, which is weaker than “no”. Prices and plans change.

Teleprompter for Video and its Mac sibling Prompt+ are made by Norton Five Ltd. This page compares the iPhone app, with Prompt+ noted where it differs.

Teleprompter for Video column: its US App Store listing, the Prompt+ listing (ratings and counts from Apple’s lookup service) and its website, read October 8, 2026.

Lightshot’s column comes from the app. The networks you can connect are listed in Settings, Connected accounts; each network has to approve Lightshot first, and TikTok and YouTube posts stay private until those reviews pass. Lightshot has no App Store ratings yet.

Do both follow your voice?

Yes. The Teleprompter for Video listing says “The script scrolls as you speak!”, and its version 11.4.4, released September 29, 2026, “improves voice scrolling support for external microphones”. We didn’t find a list of the languages it follows.

Lightshot’s voice-follow listens in the language you wrote in, detected or picked by hand, as far as your iPhone supports it. If you record with a clip-on microphone, the recorder’s Mic pill names the input and opens the iPhone’s microphone picker, and plugging a microphone in or out mid-take pauses the take; the microphone help covers the details. No microphone has been tested by name.

Can the prompter float over another camera app?

Teleprompter for Video can. Its listing describes a floating mode that “allows you to overlay the script on top of other apps, such as the native camera app”. If you like recording in the Camera app or another app’s camera, that is a real reason to choose it.

Lightshot can’t. Its words stay inside its own recorder, or move to a second iPhone that prompts while the first one films. That second phone listens with its own microphone, so it still keeps pace with you.

What happens after you stop recording?

Teleprompter for Video adds captions, either burned into the video or as an .srt file, and offers a logo, resizing, green screen, text, music and AI eye-contact enhancement. We didn’t find an automatic cut of the pauses between your lines.

In Lightshot you tap Auto edit and it cuts the gaps and times captions to your voice on the iPhone. Then the editor lets you change the room behind you, clean the sound and reshape the frame. A line that went wrong mid-take is already dealt with if you used Redo the last sentence, which cuts it back and rewinds the prompter on the spot.

Where Teleprompter for Video may fit better

It costs less. Annual plans start at $29.99 in its in-app purchase list, Prompt+ is a one-off $19.99 with no subscription, and scripts up to 750 characters are free without a watermark. Lightshot Yearly is $59.99 and there’s no free way in.

It runs on iPad, Android and Apple Watch, and Prompt+ adds Mac. It records at 720p and at 25 fps for PAL projects, which Lightshot doesn’t. It includes AI eye-contact enhancement, which Lightshot leaves out on purpose, and royalty-free music, where Lightshot only adds music from your own files. And with 14,914 ratings averaging 4.87, it has a long public track record; Lightshot has none yet.

Where Lightshot may fit better

Lightshot is built around the take itself. Redo swaps out one line without leaving the take, lift, land and breathe marks show how to say each phrase, and a remote or pedal button can redo, hold the prompter or step forward a sentence (see remote controls). Demo takes put your face in a bubble over a screen recording you narrate.

When the take is done, the silence cuts, captions and noise removal run on the phone, and posting goes to the networks you connect once each has approved Lightshot. If that finish is where your time goes, that work is what Lightshot’s higher price pays for.
