Select a connected input

  1. Connect the microphone to your iPhone according to its instructions.
  2. Open a script and enter the recorder.
  3. Tap Mic and select an available input in the system picker.
  4. Record a sentence, finish the take, and play it back. Check the actual recording as well as the input name.

Apple also documents choosing an input for a recording app in Control Center. Input choices depend on what iOS exposes to the app. No microphone model has completed Lightshot’s device tests, so there is no verified accessory list yet.

Why connecting or removing a mic pauses a take

Lightshot pauses when the audio route changes mid-take. Check the new Mic label, then resume when the input is right. The existing parts remain part of that recording. Pause and retake controls explain how to redo a sentence if a cable change spoiled it.

If there is no microphone or no microphone access, the app asks Record without sound?. Silent recording cannot supply the spoken audio needed for voice-following or speech captions. Resolve the input problem first when speech is the point of the video.

If the recording is silent or unclear

Check microphone permission, the selected input and any physical mute switch on your equipment. Keep the mic in its intended speaking position and test again. The recorder warns when no audio reaches it for an extended interval; that warning does not confirm that the sound is otherwise usable.

Clean audio in review can reduce noise while preserving the original audio. It cannot recover words that were never recorded. For words that are audible but fail to move the script, check the script’s speech language. If the problem persists, report the input name and connection type to support.
