Competitor facts were checked on October 8, 2026, on each vendor’s own pages and its US App Store listing; Lightshot’s side comes from the app. This compares documentation, not measured accuracy or speed. “Not found” means we didn’t find it in their documentation, which is weaker than “no”. Prices and plans change.

PromptSmart column: the PromptSmart Pro listing, the PromptSmart+ listing (ratings and counts from Apple’s lookup service) and the pricing page, read October 8, 2026.

Lightshot’s column comes from the app. The networks you can connect are listed in Settings, Connected accounts; each network has to approve Lightshot first, and TikTok and YouTube posts stay private until those reviews pass. Lightshot has no App Store ratings yet.

Which PromptSmart are you comparing?

The PromptSmart Pro listing describes a $29.99 purchase with an optional Extended subscription, and says VoiceTrack is English only. PromptSmart+ is the subscription edition, with 15 languages and an Android app. Don’t apply Pro’s language limit to every product with the PromptSmart name.

The web pricing page sells separate packages: a Starter Pack at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and Team at $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. Those are web packages, not a promise that an App Store purchase includes the same things. Version 4.1.0, released October 7 and 8, added cloud import from OneDrive for Business and bulk import of up to ten files.

How does each one follow your voice?

PromptSmart’s VoiceTrack description says the text moves as you speak, stops when you pause or improvise, and waits for you to start the script again. Lightshot’s voice-follow also holds at the next unread word when you go off script, and keeps moving at the pace it has learned while you speak. Neither app needs to be called the only one that waits for a speaker.

Test with your own names, jargon and language. Lightshot’s recognition languages depend on the iPhone; language help shows how to see them. PromptSmart+ names 15 VoiceTrack languages in its listing.

What if you want that sentence again?

A prompter can follow you well and still leave a sentence you’d rather replace. Lightshot’s redo control changes the recording as well as the script position: pause, redo, and say the sentence again. We didn’t find a trim-and-rewind step in PromptSmart’s listings, help or pricing page.

Where PromptSmart may fit better

PromptSmart covers more devices: iPad and Mac for Pro, Android for PromptSmart+, a Studio Edition for Windows and Mac, and script editing on the web. Lightshot is iPhone only.

An operator can drive it remotely. The help center describes a web Remote Control Room, and the listings sell a Remote Control purchase. That suits a crew where someone else runs the script.

You can try it first with PromptSmart Lite, or own Pro outright for $29.99. Lightshot is subscription only, with no free plan or trial.

Where Lightshot may fit better

Lightshot is the one to look at when the same iPhone does the recording and the finish: silence cuts and captions on one tap, an editor for the take, and posting to the networks you connect. All three plans are paid and carry the same tools.

Start from where your script lives, who runs the prompter and how the video gets finished. A crew with an operator and a desktop may be better served by PromptSmart even if Lightshot’s redo appeals.
