Find the languages on this iPhone

  1. Open Settings › Help and support in Lightshot.
  2. Look under Voice follow languages on this iPhone.
  3. Open your script and choose its language from the editor’s Language menu.

Automatic detects a script’s language once there are enough words to identify it; short or ambiguous scripts can use the phone’s language instead. Choose the language yourself when that guess is wrong. The choice applies to voice-following and captions.

Let speech files finish preparing

A language may need a first-use download from Apple. The recorder can show Preparing voice follow while it gets ready. Apple describes how speech model files are downloaded and managed by the system. Once available, voice-following analyzes speech on the iPhone.

Run a short rehearsal in the selected language before an important take. Recognition quality with accents, long scripts and external microphones has not been measured on physical devices yet.

If the words stop following

Check the selected language, microphone input and speech-recognition permission. Read the lit script word. When Voice follow isn’t hearing words appears, try Retry voice or choose Use auto pace for timed scrolling. Microphone help covers choosing the input.

Voice-following advances an existing script; it does not write one from speech. Number spelling and contraction matching include English-specific rules, so do not assume those behave the same in every language. Read how voice-follow behaves during pauses and ad-libs or contact support with your iPhone model, iOS version and selected language.
