Use the Apple Watch companion
- Use a paired Apple Watch running watchOS 26.0 or later, with the Lightshot companion installed.
- Open a script’s recorder on your iPhone and keep the phone nearby.
- Open Lightshot on the watch. Record or pause from the large button; pause before redoing a sentence. The other controls finish the take, hold or resume the script, and step through sentences.
The watch shows the script title and progress during a take. It needs the iPhone recorder: it does not film or display the full script itself. If it says Open the recorder, check the paired phone is reachable and its recorder is open. If it says Answer on your iPhone, deal with the open sheet or question on the phone first.
Pair and test before a take
- Put the remote or pedal in its Bluetooth keyboard mode, if its instructions provide one.
- Follow Apple’s Bluetooth pairing steps in iPhone Settings.
- Open Settings › Prompter › Remote control in Lightshot.
- Press a button at Press a button on your remote, then assign the action you want and test in the recorder.
No remote or pedal has been verified by model on a physical iPhone yet. A Bluetooth connection alone does not establish that an accessory sends a supported key.
What the default buttons do
- Right, Page Down and Space record or pause.
- Left and Page Up redo the last sentence.
- Down deletes the last part; Return finishes.
- Up initially does nothing.
- Both volume buttons record or pause while the camera is on in the recorder.
Mappings can be changed or restored with Reset to defaults. Hold / carry on the script holds the words while filming continues. Sentence-step actions move the prompter without stopping the take. Faster and slower actions affect auto pace.
If a button does nothing
Check that iOS shows the accessory connected, confirm its keyboard mode, and use the in-app live test. If a key registers, inspect its assignment: Nothing intentionally has no effect. Hardware volume controls need the camera running in the recorder.
Redo and delete pause recording before changing it. Learn what each retake action removes before assigning those actions to a pedal. The remote setup guide covers rehearsal; support can investigate if you report the accessory, its mode and the key shown by the test.
If the on-screen keyboard stops appearing
Page turners and foot pedals connect to iPhone as Bluetooth keyboards. While one is connected, iPhone expects you to type on it and doesn't show the on-screen keyboard, in Lightshot or in any other app. Tapping a caption, a script or a post caption to edit it then brings up no keys.
- Switch the remote or pedal off, then tap the text again. The on-screen keyboard appears.
- To leave the accessory on, disconnect it instead: open Settings › Bluetooth on iPhone, tap the info button next to it and tap Disconnect.
- Before your next take, switch it back on, or tap its name in Settings › Bluetooth to reconnect.
Type or paste the script before you connect the remote, and switch the remote off when you finish filming. Fixing captions and writing post captions both need the on-screen keyboard.
