Connect the two phones
- On the second iPhone, open a script in Prompter mode.
- On the camera iPhone, open the recorder and tap its Prompter pill.
- Select the nearby prompter when it appears. Approve local-network access if iOS asks.
- The first time, both phones show the same 6-digit Pairing code. On the prompter phone, answer Let [phone] control this prompter? with Allow only if the codes match.
- On the camera phone, tap Pair. Check that the displayed script and position are right before recording.
Later links between the same two phones connect without a code. To stop them linking, open the camera phone’s Prompter pill and tap Unlink. Both phones forget the pairing, and the next link shows a code again.
The prompter phone uses its own microphone for voice-following. A mic connected to the camera phone does not make the second phone hear better. Place the prompter where it can hear your reading, then rehearse the connection.
If the phones do not connect
Keep both phones nearby with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi available, and check that the second phone is in prompter mode. In iPhone Settings, check Privacy & Security › Local Network and permit Lightshot. Apple explains local-network permission and how to change it.
A prompter already controlled by another camera refuses a second camera. End that earlier connection before trying again. If the link drops, Lightshot attempts to reconnect and resynchronize its place; confirm the result before continuing an important take.
The connection uses Apple’s nearby-device framework with encryption required. Script and control messages travel between phones, not through Lightshot’s server. This is an iPhone-to-iPhone setup.
Set mirroring only for a glass rig
On the prompter phone, Settings › Prompter has two switches. Use Mirror horizontally when the top of the screen faces away from you and Mirror vertically when it faces you; both together turn the words upside down. They change only the prompter-only screen. Check the words through the glass before filming; the camera preview’s mirror behavior is a separate setting.
Follow the placement guide for two iPhones for eyeline setup. If pairing still fails, contact support with both phone models and the point where pairing stopped.
